Arverne-By-The-Sea

120-Acre Planned Community, NYC

2,000+ residential units on the Rockaway Peninsula in Queens, NYC, planned and originally designed by the firm EE&K and worked on by our office through completion. This project incorporates a variety of building types: multi-family condominium buildings and attached two- and three-story structures; many as two-family stacked units—allowing owner occupied condos with an extra apartment for the owner to rent. Efforts to withstand future storms and rising sea levels were implemented by raising the entire site by an average of eight feet, adding a special drainage system to reduce flooding risk, and construction materials and design techniques to improve resilience. Our office was previously named MeltzerCosta (until Jan 2019), and you can read more about this project in the Case Study below.

Build-it-Back New York

The challenge created by Hurricane Sandy was one that affected all of the east coast, hardest hitting those who lost their homes. Our office was brought in at a later stage to help expedite the architectural solutions so people could regain their lives and homes. We have currently completed over 40 new one and two family residences for people who had lost their homes.
